Martial Cottle Park Native Plant Hedgerow, 10/11/22 by Ronald Horii
The Friends of Martial Cottle Park (FOMCP), in partnership with the Santa Clara County Parks, planted a hedgerow in Martial Cottle Park. It's 921 feet long by 20 feet wide, planted between the trail and the farm fields along Chynoweth Avenue. It's planted entirely with native plant species. FOMCP began raising funds for the project in 2019. So far, they have raised $11,500 for it. It was initially planted in 2020. There was a workday on 11/14/21, where volunteers planted more plants: https://tinyurl.com/49jbvdjk. There was one of many weeding days on 4/9/22: https://tinyurl.com/bdeyzeem. This is what it looked like on 6/9/22, when many of the flowers were blooming: https://tinyurl.com/mr755h5w. It also shows how bad the weeds got.
