Remembering Kitty Monahan With FOSTP by Ronald Horii
Kitty Monahan was a founding member of the Friends of Santa Teresa Park. She passed away at home just after midnight on July 25, 2022. She served at FOSTP's Vice President for many years, until she was unable to continue because of her health. She was a long-term volunteer with the Santa Clara County Parks. She accumulated 14,000 lifetime volunteer hours with the County Parks. In 2014, she received the Lifetime Presidential Volunteer Award for her work with the parks. She volunteered with many park, open space, and historic preservation groups. She was a founder and President of the New Almaden Quicksilver County Park Association. On 5/21/22, she was awarded the Preservation Lifetime Achievement Award from the Santa clara County Preservation Alliance. She also received a commendation from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. Here's a biography of Kitty from 2018: https://www.livingalmadenhistory.com/post/kitty-monahan. These are pictures that I have of Kitty at Santa Teresa Park or related events from 2002 to 2022. This Saturday, 7/30/22 at the La Fuente event at the Bernal Ranch in Santa Teresa Park from 5-8 pm, the Friends of Santa Teresa Park will have an information booth. We'll have pictures and memories of Kitty. Mike Boulland will talk about her. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=415166997310587&set=a.229687762525179. Thank you. These are wonderful. Although I tear up, I am happy to see all the love Kitty gave to everyone and especially to kids and animals!
