Bay Trail Bike Ride in Fremont, 7/17/22 by Ronald Horii
On 7/17/22, I went for a bike ride in Fremont along the Bay Trail, starting at the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters. I then crossed over Hwy 84 to Coyote Hills Regional Park. I visited the new Dumbarton Quarry Campground. I then went to the Coyote Hills Visitor Center and Nectar Garden. After that, I followed the Alameda Creek Trail to its mouth on San Francisco Bay. From there, I rode on the Shoreline Trail along the edge of the Bay and under the Dumbarton Bridge. On the other side of the bridge, I saw the Dumbarton Fishing Pier and took a short spur trail to see the historic Dumbarton Rail Bridge and the old Hetch Hetchy Pipeline. I returned to Don Edwards Headquarters on Marshlands Road. Along the way, I saw the old Mallard II dredge, which is used to build and repair the salt pond levees. All the wide angle pictures in this album were taken with my Samsung A42 smartphone. While I was biking, I posted pictures periodically to Facebook in near real-time. The telephoto shots were taken with my Panasonic ZS100 travelzoom. I posted some of those to Facebook later. This album is from a slideshow I put together for a CNPS photo sharing meeting, so it has an emphasis on plants.
