Nature Photography Day at Coyote Valley OSP, 6/15/22 by Ronald Horii
June 15 has been designated Nature Photography Day by the North American Nature Photography Association: https://nanpa.org/events/nature-photography-day/. Since 2006, people have been encouraged to go out with their cameras and explore nature. I decided to celebrate the day by going for a hike at 348-acre Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve and taking pictures along the way. https://www.openspaceauthority.org/preserves/coyotevalley.html. I hiked the 4-mile Arrowhead Loop Trail in the afternoon. It was 88 degrees outside, but a strong wind was blowing, so it felt cooler. The wind was so strong, my hat kept blowing off. Once I got up into the hills, it was less windy, but it was mostly shady, so it was still not hot. This is summer, so the hills are very dry, and there's not many wildflowers blooming. I was mainly looking at the views, the trees, and people out enjoying nature. I did find a few wildflowers in bloom. Here's what I saw along the route. I earlier sent out real-time pictures from my phone while I was hiking the route. These pictures are from my compact camera.
