Vasona-YSI Nature Center Grand Reopening, 5/28/22 by Ronald Horii
On 5/28/22, after being closed for renovation, there was a grand reopening ceremony for the building which serves as the Youth Science Institute (YSI) Science and Nature Center and the Visitor Center/Ranger Office for Vasona Lake County Park. Located next to the administration offices for the County Parks, for many years, it was only used by YSI for their science programs and had limited opening hours. A few years ago, the County Parks partnered with YSI to use the building as a visitor center for the park and as an office for the park rangers. That allowed it to be open for longer hours and on the weekend. It is open on Monday-Friday from 9-4:30, Saturday 11-3.
In the past few years, the County Parks' visitor centers have been undergoing re-design and renovation. It became Vasona's turn. Here are pictures of the ribbon-cutting and inside of the nature center.
