Alum Rock Park BioBlitz, 5/1/22 by Ronald Horii
On Saturday 5/1/22, there was a BioBlitz in Alum Rock Park. Here's the description: "Located in the Eastern Foothills of San Jose, the park we will be at is a safe haven for many species of plants and animals right along Coyote Creek. Join Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful and BioBlitz.club in cataloging and documenting all of the living things that reside there. We will have experts in various fields to help guide participants through all the cool plants and wildlife.
The best part? All you need to participate is a smart phone with the iNaturalist app!
So bring your family and prepare for an in-depth tour of this great park.
Hosted by Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful , Open Space Authority, and Mothers Out Front.
Supported by the City of San Jose." The aim of a BioBlitz is to observe and record as many living things as possible within a particular area and time period. The observations are recorded using the iNaturalist app or website. This event is part of the City Nature Challenge, which is a worldwide competition to see which city or region can record the most observations from April 29 to May 2, 20202 (https://citynaturechallenge.org/). The event was led by Merav Vonshak, who organizes BioBlitzes all over the county. Merav created this website for BioBlitzes: https://www.bioblitz.club/ and this Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bioblitz.club.
