Winter Exploration of Spreckles Hill, 1/8/22 by Ronald Horii
On 1/8/22, this event was held in the section of the North Coyote Valley called Spreckles Hill: "Join the Open Space Authority to explore and learn all about the natural history of Spreckles Hill, one of the scenic landmarks in North Coyote Valley. Join us for a short walk and talk around the wetland that surrounds the hill and learn about the ecology of Coyote Valley. We will climb to the top of this small hill to take in the view of the Valley of Heart’s Delight, eat a snack, and do some reflection on the significance of this special open space. The walk around the wetland and hill will have some rough terrain, so please wear sturdy shoes." This was the first public hike of Spreckles Hill. It is normally closed to the public, except for special events or by request. The hike was led by the Open Space Authority's Volunteer Program Coordinator Kat Hill, accompanied by docents (including me).------------------ Here are more of my pictures of North Coyote Valley: http://www.rhorii.com/#NCoyoteValley------------------ Here's more about the Open Space Authority and the Coyote Valley: https://www.openspaceauthority.org/our-work/planning-coyote-valley/about-coyote-valley.html
