Alum Rock Park Nature Walk, 3/26/22 by Ronald Horii
On 3/26/22, there was a nature walk in San Jose's Alum Rock Park. It was sponsored by Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful (https://www.keepcoyotecreekbeautiful.org/, https://www.facebook.com/CoyoteCreekSJ/).
The hike was for the benefit of members of the Alum Rock School District who were interested in environmental education programs for the school. (https://www.arusd.org/). Attending the event were school parents, kids, board members, and the superintendent of the district.
This was a nature walk and a BioBlitz. Helping with the hike was biologist Merav Vonshak, who organizes BioBlitzes all over the county. Merav created this website for BioBlitzes: https://www.bioblitz.club/ and this Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bioblitz.club. There was a BioBlitz in Alum Rock Park on 7/17/21: https://tinyurl.com/j3vrzryb. Also helping was volunteer and birder Carlos Marquez Garcia, who provided Spanish translations. I was there to talk about the park and its history.
