Vasona Birds, 11/17/12 by Ronald Horii
It was a dark and stormy night, but the next day, the clouds broke up, and the sun shone through. I thought I might see some nice lighting, so I went down to the Vasona Dam so I could get a view across the lake. That's when I noticed something unusual: brown pelicans. I see them all the time at the Bay, but rarely on lakes so far inland, like Vasona. Here are some pictures taken with my new compact camera, a Canon SX260HS. It has a 20X zoom lens, which helped get the telephoto shots. — at Vasona Lake County Park. (near Vasona Lake County Park)
