Almaden Quicksilver Pre-BioBlitz Survey, 11/14/21 by Ronald Horii
On 12/5/21, there will be a BioBlitz at Almaden Quicksilver County Park, starting in the Mockingbird Hill Lane staging area. Here are details and sign-up information: https://www.bioblitz.club/event-info/bioblitz-at-almaden-quicksilver-county-park
A BioBlitz is where a group of people go out in nature and record all the lifeforms they can find, like plants, insects, fungi, birds, and other animals. They record their finds using the iNaturalist app or website. The last BioBlitz there was on 4/11/21, in which I followed the group on the Virl Norton Trail: https://tinyurl.com/czz7v24s

Prior to that, there was one on 11/16/19, in which I followed and led the group on the New Almaden Trail: https://tinyurl.com/u7g42yq

On 11/14/21, I did a survey hike at Almaden Quicksilver to see what was there. Sometimes BlioBlitzers barely leave the parking lot. Some hike the trails. There are 3 trails at the Mockingbird Hill entrance. I hiked the New Almaden Trail and took pictures of plants, the landscapes, and environments. I'm not going to identify the plants. I'll leave that to the BioBlitzers. I hiked up to the start of the Buena Vista Trail. That's where this album ends. BioBlitzers probably won't have time to go beyond there. I had all day, so I continued to other parts of the park. That's covered in Part 2 of my Almaden Quicksilver hike: https://tinyurl.com/3hz4kh4v
