Hellyer BioBlitz, 11/13/21 by Ronald Horii
Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful and the BioBlitz Club held a BioBlitz at Hellyer County Park. This was the description of the event: "Located in the southern part of San Jose, Hellyer County Park is a safe haven for many species of plants and animals right along Coyote Creek. Join Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful, BioBlitz.club, and Grassroots Ecology in cataloging and documenting all of the living things that reside there. We will have experts in various fields to help guide participants through all the cool plants and wildlife.
Since we visit this park quarterly, come out again if you've already visited and see the difference a few months can make in what you see.
The best part? All you need to participate is a smart phone with the iNaturalist app!
So bring your family and prepare for an in-depth tour of this great park."
It was sponsored by Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful: https://www.keepcoyotecreekbeautiful.org/ https://www.facebook.com/CoyoteCreekSJ/ It was organized by biologist Merav Vonshak, who has been holding BioBlitzes in other parts of the county. Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful
Thanks again Ron for documenting another fun BioBlitz. We were lucky to have the weather move from cold and foggy to a beautiful day with the final sight of the tule elk running across the hillside.
