The Ghost Road in Santa Teresa Park, 11/8/21 by Ronald Horii
Santa Teresa County Park in San Jose has a long history. Native tribes have lived here for thousands of years. The Bernal Family settled here in the 1800's, and their family owned at least parts of it until the 1970's. Over the years, there have been many legends and stories, as well as ghostly sightings. Some of them are famous, such the legend of the Black-Robed Woman, who appeared at Santa Teresa Spring and cured the ailing native people. There's also the story of Dottie's Pond, about the giant hand that reached up from the dark waters of the Santa Teresa Spring pond and grabbed young Dottie Bernal, pulling her underwater. In the middle of the park is a lesser-known mystery. It's called the Ghost Road. It's an abandoned road that is slowly returning to nature, but there's something strange and creepy about it. Here are pictures and its story.
