Day on the Bay, Alviso Marina County Park, 10/16/21 by Ronald Horii
Day on the Bay has been an annual event at Alviso Marina County Park, starting in 2009. It was initiated by then-Supervisor Dave Cortese. Alviso Marina is in his district. Dave Cortese has since moved onto the California legislature as a state senator, but his successor in the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, Otto Lee, has continued the tradition. Last year, it was canceled because of the pandemic, but it's back this year. Here's the description from Supervisor Lee's website: "The District 3 office and the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department are proud to present this fun-filled festival along the South Bay shores of Alviso.
This special event will include a resource fair focused on health and environmental sustainability. We will showcase the beautiful Alviso Marina, and this is a wonderful opportunity to share information, services, and resources with the local community. Attendees can meet non-profit, government, and community-based organizations to learn about, and even receive, services.
Historically, Day on the Bay has drawn approximately 10,000 to 15,000 people annually to enjoy activities, rich in diversity and talent, and abundant in cultural expression. The Mercury News reports that it is the most attended event in the historic waterfront town of Alviso. Sponsorships and Registration are now closed, if you should have any questions, please contact the office at Supervisor.Lee@bos.sccgov.org or call 408-299-5030."
