I don't get all the people on the net that are so against this.

Maybe it's because I never liked the Superman comic because they were so dull and he is so dull.

This suit is damn creative, different, and looks amazing. It would have been shocking but this is the world of art and taking risks.
That emblem and the whole fabric of the costume is forward-thinking and guess what...it's what an alien suit would look like as opposed to red and blue....tights.

It isn't anything against Steve's work, who was hired to do this from designs made from Burton and his production designer. But so glad Batman and Robin bad opening weekend killed this project on the day it was slated to shoot.Burton should never be let near superhero movies. he actually had in the script where Lois gives birth to Superman's son just after he is killed by Doomesday. The child is the vessel of a re-incarnated Superman, who grows to the age he was just before he was killed, and Lois continues to have her relationship with her own son. Tim Burton should just stay to dark movies.

Maybe I am the only one that would have wanted to see this movie, for better or for worse based on whatever what was in that script

Absolutely! Hell yes I would have loved to have seen this come to life. Nothing wrong with the classic 'tights' look but at the same time fresh ideas and a new perspective is always welcome. Not to mention these techniques are truly incredible to see and appreciate as a fan. This whole project gets a big thumbs up from me and am wishing we HAD gotten this film. Incredible work and outstanding of the box thinking. Loving the Sup's chest logo.

Mike is correct, Steve was hired to do Superman Lives. If you read the comics, Superman dies and an alien takes his place, this superman had lightning pulsing through the suit, this is what you are seeing here. Hopefully Steve will post when he gets time.

would love to hear what the brief for this design was. was superman supposed to be a humanoid energy being?

Well...Do I dare to say that I actually kinda like it?... I mean, Superman comes from outerspace, from an ex-unknown planet called Krypton, so why would he wear human clothes made, apparently, with human basic materials? It just doesn't make much sence, does it? I just miss a cape or something like that in this drawings, but I like where they was going with it, digging some of the comics story. Don't attack him without seeing the true result, it might have worked and, maybe, just maybe, we could watch a motion picture as good, fresh and as "human" as the first one with Mr. Reeve. It'll be interesting to see a Superman not so attached to America, but one more personal keeping, naturally, some elements of the character... Superman is much more than a red-blue suit! So much more!

OMFG!!! THANKS OUR LUCK STARS THAT WE DIDN'T SEE NICOLAS CAGE (I AM A FAN OF CAGE) AS SUPERMAN IN A CRAPPY "STARKID" SUIT WITH A METAL "S" THAT SEPERATES AS KNIVES. I TRIED WRAPPING MY HEAD AROUND THE LOGO TURNING INTO SARAN WRAP FOR HIS ENEMIES. i GUESS SLY STALLONE WAS RIGHT THAT HEROS NOW CAN WEAR VELCROW MUSCLES...

This suit is amazing. Put asside the Superman connection for a moment, and just look at it as a feat of engineering. Do you have any idea what it takes to get something like this to articulate?

I would love to see footage of this in action. Does anyone know if the suit still exists/wether any footage of this was captured?
