Joice Trail Views and Selfies, 12/26/18 by Ronald Horii
On a clear day after Christmas, I went on a hike up the Joice Trail in Santa Teresa County Park. I got a tripod for Christmas from my son, so I thought I'd check it out. It's a professional-style aluminum travel tripod with a ball head. It should be good for landscapes and selfies, so I hiked up Bernal Hill to take some. The tripod weighs about 3 lbs and has a carrying case. I wanted to see how much work it is to haul it up the steep hill.

We've had enough rain to stimulate plant growth, so the hills are turning green. Most of the green is from non-native annual grasses, which sprout and grow quickly. However, there are some native plants starting to come out, particularly in the areas with serpentine soil higher up in the hills.
