King Tide Walk at the Palo Alto Baylands, 12/23/18 by Ronald Horii
The King Tides are the highest tides of the year. They occur in the winter, when the sun, earth, and moon are closest to each other. The King Tides occurred during the weekend of 12/22-23/18. There were interpretive events all over California:

The closest to me was in the Palo Alto Baylands. There was a walk that began at the Lucy Evans Nature Center, went to Environmental Volunteers' Ecocenter, and ended at the Palo Alto Yacht Harbor. The peak of the tide was 9.6 feet at 12:49 pm. The walk started at 12:00 pm. I got there early, around 10:30 am, and scouted out the area. Here are pictures.
