Fantasy of Lights Walk-Thru, Vasona Lake, 12/2/18 by Ronald Horii
During December, Vasona Lake County Park is transformed into winter light show called "Fantasy of Lights." Normally, it's a drive-thru experience. On 12/1 and 12/2, there were walk-thru events, where visitors could see the lights on foot, taking their time. For the walk-thru events only, there were booths, Santa Claus, and food trucks. I went on 12/2. These pictures start at the entrance to the park, just after sunset when the event opened. I walked down to the Santa Claus/booth area. I then went past the food trucks to the Dinosaur Den. By this time, it was dark. I came back through the food truck area, then crossed over Los Gatos Creek to the west side of the park. I came back to the entrance again to see the lights in the dark.
From what I heard, both walk-thru events sold out. They had 9000 visitors each day. Why not have more walk-thru days? It required 100 volunteers and 40 staff to put on the walk-thru's. There was no parking in Vasona. Visitors parked at Netflix and took shuttle buses to the park. The drive-thru's only require 5 volunteers, fewer staff, and no need for off-site parking, which is not available on weekdays.

Drive-thru tickets are available for 12/5-12/30. They must be purchased ahead of time and for a particular date and time.
