History of Almaden Air Force Station on Mt Umunhum by Ronald Horii
On 12/7/18, I went to this event:
"Come on up to the summit and enjoy an educational experience as you learn about the history of Almaden Air Force Station, Mt. Umunhum, and much more. See fascinating photos from when this USAF radar station was in operation during the Cold War. This event is a "bring your own lunch" brief history presentation followed by a fact-filled walking tour of the summit area of Mt. Umunhum led by the Almaden Air Force Station historian and co-founder of the Umunhum Conservancy."
It was led by Basim Jaber. He has given many slideshow presentations on the history of the Almaden Air Force Station on Mt. Umunhum. This was the first time he's given a presentation at the site itself. That's because Mid-Pen has just started issuing permits for events like this. Unfortunately, permits are only issued for Monday-Friday, so future events will have to be on weekdays. Limited informal events can be on weekends.
