Santa Teresa Park: Rain, Rainbows, Views, & Sunset 10/3/18 by Ronald Horii
On 10/3/18, the first rain since April hit San Jose. There wasn't much rain, but there was enough to make rainbows and some impressive clouds. I went to Santa Teresa Park and walked up the Hidden Springs Trail to get a good vantage point of the storm. I was hoping for a rainbow. There were a few brief downpours, but I had an umbrella. As the storm moved east, and the clouds broke open, partial rainbows appeared. The skies began to clear, but there were still dramatic cloud formations. I was hoping the rain would clean the air and provide clear views, so I hiked up to Coyote Peak. I could see all the way to San Francisco. Here are views from that day.
I took all these pictures with my little Panasonic ZS50 travelzoom. It's not the best for low light, but its powerful 30X zoom lens is great for distant shots.
