Stile Ranch Trail, Santa Teresa Park, 9/4-5/18 by Ronald Horii
It's September. I hiked the Stile Ranch-Mine-Fortini Trail Loop in Santa Teresa County Park several times at the beginning of the month. This trail loop is famous for its spectacular spring wildflowers, but in September, is anything blooming? The answer is yes. Not a lot, but there are some native wildflowers in bloom, even this late in the year. What's always there are the great views. These pictures were mostly taken on 9/4 and 9/5/18.

Here's what the trail looked like in April: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1764304953593019&type=1&l=8d089cf46f

One of my favorite places for some of the reasons you've shown here. One of the few trails through thick chaparral -- amazing in the spring when the mallow, black sage, monkey flower are in bloom with a dense a multitude of native bee species -- roar of buzzing and aroma is amazing. I also helped one of the contractors build the steep rock switchbacks. I was blown away by how strong he was breaking rocks with a pike and going all day lifting and moving rocks into place. I was exhausted after about a half hour. Forced myself to help another half hour and then had to apologize as I was done. Left with my tail between my legs.

One of my favorite places. If you get to the trail early enough, before it gets really active, you can usually find tarantulas on the hunt for love in the fall
