Coyote Peak Hike, 8/18/18 by Ronald Horii
There was a series of ranger-led hikes to Coyote Peak. This was the description:
What's "Shaking" in Parks? Trek to the highest peak in the park to view fantastic vistas and explore local geology formations. Meet in the 2nd parking lot with hiking shoes, layered clothing, and water.

I went on this hike on 8/4/18, led by Ranger Bryan Lue: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1967390829951096&type=1&l=145d301877

I came back on 8/18/18. I posted a notice about this hike on Nextdoor. A group of 9 people showed up, 1 more than last time. Unfortunately, Bryan got sick and couldn't make it. Instead of cancelling the hike, I led it. I'm no geologist, but I know enough about earthquake faults and some of the rocks, particularly serpentine, that I could talk about them. I know more about plants and trees, so I talked about them too. We hiked up to Coyote Peak from the Pueblo Area. There was still smoke in the air, so the view wasn't super-clear, but we could see most of San Jose.
