Bay Area Ridge Trail Selfies, 8/29/18 by Ronald Horii
I hate taking selfies. It makes me feel like I'm trying to be a Kardashian. However, the Bay Area Ridge Trail Project wants people to take selfies by the new Ridge Trail signs and tag them with: #fabioridestheridgetrail
I went for a bike ride on the Los Alamitos Creek Trail and Calero Creek Trail to the Stile Ranch Trail entrance of Santa Teresa County Park. I took selfies by the signs. Here they are. I still hate taking selfies.

This is a lot more trouble, but this is the kind of selfie I prefer, where I'm part of the landscape and not hogging the scene. I mounted my compact camera on my monopod/hiking pole and pushed it into the ground to stay upright. I enabled wifi control on the camera and started a remote control app on my smartphone. I used my smartphone (hidden in my left hand) to trigger the camera, with a 2 second delay. #fabioridestheri dgetrail
