Point Lobos Tour: North Side, 5/7/18 by Ronald Horii
On 5/7/18, I went for a hike at Point Lobos State Reserve south of Carmel. It has been called "the greatest meeting of land and water in the world." It is considered the crown jewel of the state park system. However, it is not a park. It's a 400-acre nature preserve. As such, activities and the number of visitors are limited. On weekends, the parking lots, which can only hold 150 cars, can fill up. When the reserve is full, you have to park along Hwy 1 and walk in. I went on a weekday, so the parking lots weren't full, but I came in from the outside anyway. I hiked around most of the shoreline and came back through the forest on the east side. I took lots of pictures, too many to put in one album. I split it up into three albums. This album is a tour of the north side of the reserve, from the Carmelo Meadow Trail, to the Granite Point Trail, to the North Shore Trail, and around the Cypress Grove Trail.
The second album covers the South Shore Trail: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1808365262520321.1073742391.100000405933924&type=1&l=bbcbc0d36d
The third covers the area around China Beach and Bird Rock: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1808421922514655.1073742392.100000405933924&type=1&l=2c57742eaf

Point Lobos has been one of my favorite places ever since I moved to California. I appreciate the upgrades to many of the trails that have been done over the past year.
