Rancho San Vicente, Hike on the Cottle Trail, 4/2/18 by Ronald Horii
On 4/2/18, I went for a hike in the newly-opened Rancho San Vicente addition to Calero County Park. I started out on the Lisa Killough and North Ridge Trails, passing by the Almaden Trail. Here are pictures from that part of the hike:

I then went back on the Lisa Killough Trail and took it to the Cottle Trail. I've been on the Cottle Trail several times for trail work days. This was the last one I went to, in 2016: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1275977242425795.1073742141.100000405933924&type=1&l=54b13aff06
The trail was only partially completed then. It's now complete and makes a loop with the Lisa Killough Trail. It also joins the existing Cottle Trail in Calero County Park. I took the Cottle Trail to where it overlooks Calero Reservoir. It was a nearly flat, shady, and easy hike through the woods, with glimpses of the surrounding hills and Calero Reservoir. There were lots of wildflowers right at the start of the trail, which is in a serpentine area. The rest of the trail was mostly through non-serpentine woodlands. It had lots of variety of wildflowers, if not huge carpets of them.
