Lake Cunningham Bird and Plant Walk, 3/18/18 by Ronald Horii
This event was held on Sunday 3/18/18 at Lake Cunningham Regional Park in San Jose:
"Do you want to deepen your appreciation of nature by learning to identify the birds and plants around you? As spring begins, join the California Native Plant Society, Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, and the Open Space Authority for a beginner’s bird and plant identification walk through Lake Cunningham Park. This park is a major destination for waterfowl and migratory birds, with a native garden that provides great habitat. On this walk, Docent Vicki will show you how to identify the common birds of our area, as well as the native plants they depend on for food, shelter, and nesting."

The walk was led by Vicki Silvas-Young, who talked about birds, and Arvind Kumar, who talked about plants and the Native Plant Garden.

A good walk! I’m so glad that Lake Cunningham has wild areas set aside. They have taken care to replant the natives.
