Fishing in the City, Ed Levin County Park, 2/4/18 by Ronald Horii
On 2/4/18, there was a South Bay Fishing in the City event at Ed Levin County Park in Milpitas. It's a free learn-to-fish event for kids from 5-15. Rods, reels, tackle, and bait are provided. The kids take classes on fishing skills, then they go down to the lake to try their luck on planted fish. The limit for this event is 2 fish. In the colder months, trout are planted in the lake. In the warmer months, catfish are planted. In this case, 2000 lbs of trout were planted in Sandy Wool Lake before the event. The lake was closed to fishing by non-participants until after the event was over.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the lake was full. This is what it looked like on 10/28/17. It would have been a long cast to hit the water from this part of the shoreline. There were people fishing there at the time, probably for warmwater fish. With the lower lake levels, the fish would have been more concentrated.
