Liberia - on a mission to support the UN team fighting Ebola by Sanaka Samarasinha
In Liberia where shaking hands is taboo and washing hands and temperature checks are routine. Already seven times this evening. I will be adding pictures to this album regularly for those of you who wish to see how ordinary people are fighting Ebola every day - now that the mainstream media seems to be moving on. Dark clouds hover above the wettest capital in the world as I land, but my Liberian colleague who greets me at the airport with a warm, welcoming smile says that they are finally beginning to see the light. Among the more than 5000 killed by Ebola are three from the UN family, but my colleague's courage and optimism is far more infectious than the virus. — in Monrovia, Liberia. (near Monrovia, Liberia)
