Oak Ramble in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park, 6/16/17 by Ronald Horii
On 6/15/17, Chris of the Open Space Authority led this hike through Guadalupe Oak Grove Park: "Oak trees are famous as strong survivors. In California, these trees endure harsh conditions to live long lives and dominate their environment. Like characters in a movie, each species of oak is strong in its own unique way and uses this strength to make its home in a different neck of the woods. Come join us on a relaxed walk to meet these remarkable characters in a typical section of California Oak Woodland and learn how their unique strengths help them thrive where they choose to live. Using a well-known tale from English folklore, we will explore the relationship between each species’ characteristics and its preferred location."

This little parakeet seems to be getting a lot of attention. I too saw it yesterday morning as I walked through the park. The bird was very calm and did not dart away as I approached. It did appear active and was feeding on seeds. Then I saw a picture of the same bird in my local NextDoor daily summary. Finally now I see the same bird in Ron's post. Small world I guess. Hope that it is doing well.
