Rancho San Vicente Dedication (by Mike Boulland) 6/3/17 by Ronald Horii
On 4/3/17, a dedication ceremony was held for the Rancho San Vicente addition to Calero County Park. The park was originally supposed to open at this time, but was delayed due to heavy winter rains and obtaining permits to complete the trails. The park will open in the fall. The dedication ceremony was held at the future staging area for the park on McKean Road and Rakstad Road. The speakers talked about the new park and about former Parks Director Lisa Killough, who passed away last year. She was instrumental in acquiring Rancho San Vicente. Many of her family was at the ceremony. After the speeches, there was a ribbon-cutting at the trailhead. Then, visitors got to explore the newly-built Lisa Killough Trail. I helped to lead the hike. The hike was 2.7 miles long to a viewpoint called Lisa's Lookout. These pictures below were taken by docent and President of the Friends of Santa Teresa Park, Mike Boulland, who I asked to help me with the hike and take pictures. He served as sweep for the hike, so he got a different perspective of the hike from what I got. I selected and edited the pictures below. I'm not going to try to identify everyone, just the key officials and staff.
Here are my pictures of the event:
