Pfeiffer Property, Santa Teresa Hills, 5/18-19/17 by Ronald Horii
The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority recently purchased 51.78 acres in the Santa Teresa Hills above the Almaden Valley. It is known as the Pfeiffer Property and has been owned by the Pfeiffer Family since the 1940's. It is undeveloped open space and was used by the Pfeiffer Family for recreational purposes. The OSA paid only $250,000 for it ($4,828/acre). It was cheap because it can't be developed, though it is surrounded by subdivisions. The land is undeveloped because it was designated as open space in exchange for allowing the subdivisions around it to be built.
There was mention about a possible sale in 2001, but OSA didn't purchase it then: http://www.avca-sj.org/pfeiffer.html
This is the authorization to negotiate the purchase back in 2015:

The property isn't open to the public yet and won't be for some time. However, it can easily be seen from city streets and parts of the Los Alamitos Creek Trail. Below are pictures from those vantage points, as well as views from Google Street View and Google Earth.
