Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve Anza Expedition Hike, 4/29/17 by Ronald Horii
On 4/29/17, there was a hike at Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve led by National Parks Service planner Brianna Weldon. She talked about the Anza Expedition, which is celebrated in the Juan Bautista de Anza National Trail. In 1775-76, Capt. Juan Bautista de Anza led a 240-person party from Mexico to establish a settlement in San Francisco. He passed through Santa Clara County on his way to San Francisco. We hiked the Arrowhead Loop Trail and Heart's Delight Trail in Coyote Valley, stopping along the way to talk about the expedition.
