Vasona-Los Gatos Creek After the Deluge, 3/15/17 by Ronald Horii
During February's heavy rains, Lexington Dam spilled and send huge amounts of water down Los Gatos Creek. This caused flooding in Vasona and parts of the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Vasona was closed for awhile. Lawns, picnic areas, parking lots, trails, park roads, and the playground were underwater. After a couple weeks of dry weather, the flooding has stopped, Los Gatos Creek is much lower, and Vasona has begun to dry out. It reopened, though the playground is still closed. On 3/15/17, I went to see the effects of the flooding on the park and trail. I started by the Vasona Dam, walked downstream along the Los Gatos Creek Trail to the Hwy 85 undercrossing, then followed Los Gatos Creek back upstream into Vasona all the way to Oak Meadow Park. Below are pictures.

Vasona also flooded in January. Here are pictures after the flooding: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1304767729546746.1073742151.100000405933924&type=1&l=efe2dcf191 — at Vasona Lake. (near Vasona Lake)
