King tide and high water at Alviso, 1/11/17 by Ronald Horii
On 1/11/17, after heavy rains filled up the rivers in the Bay Area, including the Guadalupe River, I went down to Alviso to see the combined effects of high river flows and the king tide. The king tide is an unusually high tide that occurs in the winter. 1/10 and 1/11 had king tides. Here are pictures of the Guadalupe River, the Alviso Slough, Alviso Marina County Park, Mallard Slough, and the Alviso Environmental Education Center.

Wonder how much of this involves changes due to hydraulic mining in the Sierras during the Gold Rush.

Probably more destruction occurred by diking off the South Bay Salt Ponds--Leslie, & Cargill Corporations!
