Viva CalleSJ 9/18/16 by Ronald Horii
On 9/18/16, the second annual Viva CalleSJ event was held. 6 miles of streets in Willow Glen, Burbank, downtown, and Japantown were closed to traffic, and no parking was allowed on them. They were then open from 10 am to 3 pm to bicycles, pedestrians, and skaters to enjoy without having to contend with vehicles. Though you could start and finish anywhere along the route, I chose to start my bike ride from the south end in Willow Glen, went down to the west end on W. San Carlos Street, then headed downtown and north to Japantown. The total distance for me (I took a few side trips) was 12.9 miles. I started at 10:30 am and returned at 3 pm.
