Luna Park Chalk Arts Festival, 9/17/16 by Ronald Horii
I heard about the "Luna Park Chalk Arts Festival" being held on Saturday 9/17. The name reminded me of an episode of "Lost Parks of Northern California," in which they talked about Luna Park, a former San Jose amusement park and ballfield:

There is a tiny 1.2-acre park in San Jose called Luna Park, located where the old amusement park used to be: https://www.sanjoseca.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Luna-Park-192
However, the chalk art festival is held at Backesto Park, which is a venerable 10.5-acre park a few blocks east of Japantown and 6 blocks south of the old Luna Park site:

The festival is named in honor of the old amusement park, but it's not held at the site of it. This is the organization that runs the festival:

The festival features over 150 pieces of sidewalk chalk art. It also has entertainment, food trucks, and vendor booths. It attracts over 3000 people. I thought I'd check it out. Here are pictures of some of the more interesting creations. Some were by professional artists. Others were by amateurs or students. — at Luna Park Chalk Art Festival. (near Luna Park Chalk Art Festival)
