Tarantula Hike, Canada Del Oro & Calero 9/11/16 by Ronald Horii
Here are pictures from this hike:

Tracking the Wild Tarantula
Rancho Canada del Oro Open Space Preserve
Sunday Sept 11 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Join Docent Paul and search for this elusive arachnid on its fall walkabout. The hike will be out and back along the Longwall Canyon Trial and total about 2 miles. Meet at the overflow lot off Casa Loma Road about ¼ miles past the main lot. Families are welcome.

OSA Docent Paul Billig led the hike, with help from OSA educational staff member Lauren Owen and docent Rick Mandel. I helped too. Since I'm also a County Parks docent, I did double-duty, as most of the hike took place in Calero County Park. We saw 5 tarantulas, all of them in Calero.

If you missed this hike, there's another one on 9/18 at 4:30 pm, same place.
