Los Gatos Creek Park 1-Hr Hike, 9/6/16 by Ronald Horii
I'm going to be leading a 1-hour hike in Los Gatos Creek Park next month, so I thought I'd plot out a route that takes about an hour. The easiest and simplest option would have been to hike down the paved Los Gatos Creek Trail south towards Vasona or north towards Campbell for half an hour, then come back. Instead, I thought I'd try something more interesting, with no backtracking, and all within Los Gatos Creek Park. I created a "water discovery" hike, a subset of the hike I did back in January: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1037561876267334.1073741995.100000405933924&type=1&l=bad7b9cab8
Los Gatos Creek Park is a complex network of percolation ponds and channels. This hike explores those. It ended up taking me a little more than an hour to do the route, but I was walking slowly and stopping frequently to take pictures. It's only 2.3 miles, so if you maintain an average walking speed of 2.3 miles an hour, which is not very fast, you could do it in an hour.
