Excavation Completed on Second Ag Drainage Project от King Conservation District
On Wednesday, KCD and King County, WA staff members toured a recently completed drainage project on one of Bobbi & Chuck Lindemulder's fields in the Snoqualmie Valley. The Lindemulders, owners of West Valley Beef - Chuck & Bobbi Lindemulder, have been struggling for years with pastures left saturated by annual flooding.
With technical expertise from the King County Agricultural Drainage Assistance Program and facilitation by Katie Pencke, KCD Agricultural Drainage Project Coordinator, two weeks ago work began clearing 2,300 linear feet of drainage ditches choked with reed canary grass. The project will improve 30 acres of land, providing significantly increased pasture and hay production. Later this summer a 20-foot bridge will be installed to replace a collapsed culvert that blocked a farm access road.
This was the second of three major projects KCD will facilitate this summer, supported by funding from the King County Flood Control District. When completed, the projects will clear about 11,300 linear feet of drainage ditches, improving drainage on an estimated 165 acres of farmland.

Where does the runoff go from there? Perhaps a holding tank for some kind of natural treatment, or dispersed somehow?

Kim, native pollinator plants will be installed along the riparian area this fall with to help clean and cool the water before it drains back into the Snoqualmie River.
