Amphibian Night at the Bernal Ranch, 5/14/16 by Ronald Horii
On 5/14/16, "Night of the Amphibians" was held at the Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch in Santa Teresa County Park. It was run by Park Interpreter John Dorrance, with help from intern Devon Pace, amphibian expert Chuck Rambo, and volunteer Rick Leonard. (I helped too.) Visitors got to see tadpoles and frogs, along with a red-eared slider turtle taken (temporarily) from the Santa Teresa Spring pond. Chuck Rambo brought an African frog and slender salamanders. Tadpoles taken from a backyard hot tub were given out to guests, along with food and care instructions. Chuck gave a slideshow presentation on amphibians and hot to raise them as pets. Afterwards, the classic sci-fi film "Creature from the Black Lagoon" was shown. Rick and Devon passed out lemonade and popcorn. I went outside and took some night shots. — at Santa Teresa County Park. (near Santa Teresa County Park)
