Mindego Hill Grand Opening, 3/30/16 by Ronald Horii
I've been visiting Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Palo Alto for decades. While hiking on the ridge, I could see a prominent grass-covered hill to the west, Mindego Hill. I always wondered about it and wished I could go there, but it was private property. This changed when the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) , through their 2007 GoMindego campaign, raised funds to purchase and preserve the Mindego Ranch:

In 2008, POST transferred the land to the Midpeninsula Open Space District, which built trails and a parking lot for public access:

Here's a Mercury News story about Mindego Hill:

Doug McConnell, host of the Open Road TV show, got a preview of Mindego Hill earlier this year: http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Climbing-Mindego-Hill-367097011.html
The grand opening of the final stage of this project, the trail to the top of Mindego Hill, was held on March 30, 2016. Here are pictures from that grand opening. — at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve. (near Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve)
