International Childhood Cancer Day: Your stories by World Health Organization (WHO)
International Childhood Cancer Day is held annually on 15 February to raise awareness about #childhoodcancer and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, survivors and their families.

The Day spotlights the need for better treatment and care for all children with #cancer, everywhere. While childhood cancers represent a small fraction of total cancers, more than 150,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year and the number is expected to increase.

These cancers are generally treatable, and more than 80% of children can survive if provided with accessible and appropriate treatment. Relatively small investments can make a large impact on the life of a child with cancer.

Great that you are in WHO , your services are really needed in these hour, and this cancer day reminds us, doctors to dedicate our services in research to find a proper cure with out relapses, side effects . two days back i happened to see a 17 year old boy who had osteosarcoma - operated 8 months back and had chemo also ? but now he is affected with lungs -metastasis . so by experience here ,we face relapses of cancers occurs often .since i am from traditional medicines most of the patients comes to me only in last stage ,drop out cases ? so i have lot of responsibility to save lives than curing them? which takes an year to pacify them. the herbo mineral medicines has all phytochemicals to this action .

We did our best as parents to help our son Victor Shingai during his therapy period but most important thing was parent to parent support we received. The birth of Zimbabwe Parents Of Children With Cancer Association ( ZPCCA) was a realization of the importance of parent to parent support. Thank you WHO for supporting this noble cause.

The survival rate is much lower than 80% in developing countries which certainly needs a great improvement in the future. Finger-crossed

Thank you to the WHO staff for including our little boy Dashiell in this campaign. It breaks our hearts daily to have lost him at only 5yrs old. But it is an honor to see him featured with the other incredible, precious brave warriors whose stories are integral to spreading awareness in an effort to increase scientific research funding for improved treatment options, especially to impoverished countries. That was our intent when we donated his tumors. We look forward to continuing our part in this important worldwide cause.

Thank you to the WHO for bringing awareness to the world's littlest cancer patients! As the stories share, children everywhere need access to treatment and hope for a cure. Thanks to the WHO communications team for spreading this awareness and to Dr. Oleg Chestnov for making childhood cancer a child health priority!
