History's longest strike ever

Junior doctors in Morocco (interns and residents), in the 5 university hospitals, are on an open strike since the 1st of October 2015.
But their fight has started way before thisdate.It is a fight for their most legitimate rights: including health insurance,
improving their work conditions and therefore improving health services provided to citizens, wage rise (the average salary of a junior doctor varies between 3400 to 8000DHS/month,
and also the compensation for shifts and extra hours (most of them did not recieve their compensations since year 2007).
So they started wearing black ribbons, they went on 24 hours weekly strikes, they even went on two national marchs in Rabat to make their voice heard... in vain.
Actually, the government and the health minister chose to ignore their complains at first. Then preferred to play the media card: the health minister went on several media releases
telling the public opinion how illogical the doctors' demands were, and wondering why they would even complain.
Not only the government tried to turn the public opinion against doctors by manipulating the media, but they also prevented doctors from talking in press conferences where they could
enlighten the public opinion!!!
Another dissuasion tool used against doctors was the deduction from salary -which is done arbitrarily since ther is no law supporting the deduction- even though the strikers never stopped
working in the ER and intensive care units. However, junior doctors are determined to get their basic rights, they have organised two other national marchs and are still carrying on with their open strike...
As a result of the government's unfair policy that is conditionning the doctor's strike, citizens from all over Morocco are witnessing health services in the 5 university hospitals (which represent 75% of the kingdom's health centers)
deteriorating a little more each day.Surgeries, medical consultations, radiological examniations... are being delayed, somteimes reaching months and even years delay!!

The central African need more services for health system

This is both incredibly alarming and terrifying. Thank you WHO for your efforts but there's so much more left to be done. Hopes and prayers to Central African Republic and its children.

But this makes me appreciate the health system my country has,it wasn't perfect but it's far better than this one.

The health system must be strengthened;more health professionals to be trained,medicines and equipment to be supplied. Government,bilateral and multilateral donors should support to make the health facilities functional. Everyone has the right for access to basic health care.
