Rams - Dolphins: In The Rain by Robert Hanashiro
Who says it never rains in Southern California?
The LA Rams changed quarterbacks for their home game against the Miami Dolphins, going with rookie Jared Goff over veteran Case Keenum who had led the team to a 4-5 record.
The QB was different, but the results were pretty much the same as the Rams lost to the Miami Dolphins, who came back from a 10-0 deficit late in the fourth quarter to win 14-10.
Goff's final pass of the game was a fluttering Hail Mary into the end zone that was batted away by the Dolphins' defense.
It rained throughout the afternoon, not hard but pretty steady.
This was only the second football game of the season for me...and I was pretty rusty. Like most aging players ...I need work to keep sharp and I really haven't been able to do that.
Hopefully I can get a few more games ...
Thanks for looking.

Cameras
-Nikon D500 w/Nikkor 200-500mm
-Nikon D5 w/Nikkor 70-300mm
-Nikon D5 w/Nikkor 50mm
Shutter speed varied from 1/1000-1/2000 @ wide open on the zooms. The ISO varied from 800-6400 depending on the condition and it got pretty dark by the 4th quarter because of the weather.
Believe it or not, I used a TC-14 teleconverter on a few of these frames (thank you Wally Skalij for the suggestion). This combo was VERY sharp.
After talking to fantastic football photographer John Biever during Sports Shooter Academy 13, I changed my "around-the-nec k" from a 24-70mm zoom to a fixed focal length 50mm, the focus preset and taped down at about 25 feet. That paid off almost immediately with the Rams touchdown and jube photos in the corner of the end zone.
Thanks for looking and reading.
Mahalo!
