Peacebuilding: Concepts, Actors and Institutions - 18 Nov. 2014, merkitsijänä United Nations Library&Archives Geneva
A Geneva Peace Week Event: "Peacebuilding: Concepts, Actors and Institutions" - Tuesday 18 November 2014, UNOG Library Events Room B-135, Palais des Nations.
Summary :
«Peacebuilding: Critical Concepts in Political Science», a four volume compendium edited by Vincent Chetail and Oliver Jütersonke assembles an array of must-read scholarship on the notion of peacebuilding. But it also raises critical questions about the relationship between academic thought and peace-building practice. Can research inform the way we build peace in fragile and conflict-affected settings?
Programme:
Welcome Remarks: Ruth Hahn-Weinert, Officer-in-Charge, UNOG Library
Speakers: Vincent Chetail, Professor of International Law and Director of the Graduate Institute’s Global Migration Centre (GMC); Oliver Jütersonke, Head of Research, Graduate Institute’s Centre for Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP); Michael von der Schulenburg, Former Executive Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Sierra Leone.
Moderator: Renée Larivière, Deputy Director-General for the Development and Learning, Interpeace
