Fadi Chehadé's Presentation at ICANN 53 Opening Session, July 22, by Peter T. Knight
Here are some photos of Fadi, who is a forceful and talented speaker and leader, together with some highlights of his presentation summarizing the state of play on Internet governance issues -- especially the transition from US NTIA to ICANN of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions. Google this if you don't know what it is, or visit the ICANN 53 site (https://buenosaires53.icann.org/en) to learn a lot and see videos, photos, and the transcripts of most of the meetings held there (https://buenosaires53.icann.org/en)

One of the most important developments, announced by Indian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad in a video presentation, is that India has changed its position, for years that Internet governance should be handled by an intergovernmental body (The International Telecommunications Union - ITU) where only governments vote, to multistakeholder governance, the position of ICANN and the Internet Society (ISOC). The Indian position is assumed by Prime Minister Mody and his entire Cabinet. A photo of the Minister is included. — in Buenos Aires, Argentina. (near Buenos Aires, Argentina)
