The Living, Breathing X-Plane 10 World, merkitsijänä X-Plane by Laminar Research
These shots show a vibrant, auto-generated city in X-Plane 10 from a bird's eye view, to a street-level view, to a view from someone's back yard. Note especially the intricacy of the roads, the realism of the water reflections, and the accuracy of the global shadows. Both night and day are represented here, with lighting at night hitting the nearby objects in just the way you would expect.

I can remember when the landing strip used to flip up and hit the plane like a hologram back in dorm Room 5514 at Iowa State, when Austin was my roommate. You've come a long way Austin.

great shots. Except, the amount of work done, it makes the night scenes seem a little dull. When approaching a city you will notice that there is a glow in the sky from all the lights that is there, especially a huge city, which you can see even from behind a hill that there is a city. Seems in x-plane you wont be able to until you have flown over the hill. It would be nice to see that, and add a little more brightness/contrast to lights in the middle of big cities.
