The work and love that comes from hate related events produces more love and spiritual connections than the people responsible for bringing us together care to know about.
The upcoming June 17 Choose Peace 5k - Peace in the Heartland run/walk event will be extra special thanks to our guest speaker, Sammy Rangel!
Sammy is the Executive Director of Life After Hate, a non-profit founded by former members of the violent far right extremist movement that helps others seeking to leave lives of violence and hate and provides education related to the causes of intolerance and racism. In addition, he is the founder of Formers Anonymous, a self-help group for addicts and former criminals who are seeking more productive crime-free lives.
Sammy is the author of an autobiography entitled FORBEARS: The Myth of Forgiveness which details his personal journey and provides practical steps for forgiveness, change and recovery. His TEDxDanubia presentation on The Power Of Forgiveness provides an intimate look into his troubled life, his 15+ years of incarceration, his change of heart, and his renewed purpose of peace.
In addition to all of this great work, Sammy has agreed to be our guest speaker! Join us on June 17th in Monticello, Illinois at Allerton Park and Retreat Center. Not only will you hear Sammy's presentation, but your registration will support Willow Tree Missions Domestic Abuse Program to help victims of domestic violence!
