We would love to have you join your voice to ours as we seek out the wisdom They share with us. If you are in the Chicago area, please contact us to find out more about our meetings and rites.

"Rather than some mere astronomical oddity or mere backdrop in the sky, the moon for humans has always been an ancient and ever-present guide to our lives.

This is not an esoteric statement, though the moon also has been associated with occult and spiritual knowledge in many cultures as well. The moon has been our light, our lamp in the darkness.More It has also been our calendar, our clock, the primary way by which we measured the passing of time and the cycles of nature long before we divided our days into hours and used numbers to date our lives and activities.

Now the moon means little to us. The people of industrial cities no longer use the moon to see by, and we consult tide tables and… More

Apropos of nothing in particular, would there be any interest in taking advantage of this? I was thinking I could use some, and figured even if it was just a bucket or two for you, as I'd be going anyway -More could throw a couple buckets (or whatever) in the back of Priscilla (my Subaru Outback ) for peeps. https://mwrd.org/eq-compost (Have to check if they are still doing it - unless it's an anytime of the year thing.)

Chris Sherbak created a poll.

Along with the poll about ongoing off-holiday Zoom rites (thanks Elizabeth!) we likely need to talk about when we resume in-person rituals. We're in the summer half of the year, so we'll be outside goingMore forward, so will be back at Evans Field for Summer Solstice? (Typically our Hellenic rite to Athena to sorta kinda go along with the PanAthenaion.)

Or wait till Lunasa? Think on it - we have some time. (Sounded like most people have - or will have - their shots by then so waaay less risky. We'd likely be masked and distanced either way.)

Also, Solstice Sunday would be 6/20 and is Father's Day, so we'd likely pick the preceding Sat - the 19th - or the next weekend the 27th. Preceding Sun the 13th seems a bit early.

Sadly virtual again - but Wellspring has been the premiere ADF and druid event for many years. (Sheesh, has it been decades? Maybe.) IMO Diana Paxson herself is worth the price of admission atho John Beckett is similarly important to many in Druidry. Check it out!

Thanks to everyone who attended!

Special thanks to Roswitha for the first time reading one of the Kindred prayers.

Also special thanks to Elizabeth for reminding me to close the gates. I was so focused on getting done that I totally spaced that.

And speaking of being spaced, sorry Hannah for botching the order of the gates invocations. You did aMore great job even if we were sorta kinda not quite Core Order. Thank goodness we had Valerie read the Piacular!!!

Again, check in with Janet about getting the take aways mailed to you. Thank you Franky for the beautiful work!!

Cookies I made for the rite. They didn't seem very cooked at 10min so maybe let them go do 15? Still didn't brown on top, but the bottoms got a little more color. Also takes a while for the batter to "comeMore together" the only liquid/fluid is the butter and the egg yolks. But it finally got there. Not a lot of ingredients and it made 4 dozen. (!) Pearlescent sugar makes them "fairy cakes."

We traditionally ruin everyone's Mother's Day by having Beltaine on the same day, but looks like we can break with tradition and have it the week before, on 5/2. Sound good?

Beltaine is usually our Mad Shakespeare rite to Queen Mabh of the Fairie Court. Queen/Goddess/Ruler over the powerful (and flightly) sprites and spirits of this Middle WorldMore we share with Them. Many of our prayers are Shakespeare pieces, and we call to Shakespeare, Puck and Brighit as our Bardic inspiration (Ancestor, Nature Spirit and Shining One.)

The main invocation is of course Queen Mabh's speech.
Our piacular is: "If these spirits have offended..."
And our closing is: "Our revels now are ended..."

Bubbles are encouraged.

As we come to the end of Women's History Month, I realize that I hadn't posted about ADF's Women's group - Chenille Canopy. From the ADF site:

Chenille Canopy - open to all self-identified women members ofMore ADF. 18+ or 16+ with mother's permission.

I understand there is a weekly meeting (I think this is new for the Pandemic - it used to be monthly or some less frequent.) FB group with discussion and events is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/chenille

You'll need to be an ADF member to join. Great work!!
