Report after report coming out about the mental wellbeing and physical impacts of gardening. Gardening at your local community garden will have an even greater impact due to the socialisation too. This is doneMore safely outdoors ❤️ get in touch to volunteer.

"Respondents who gardened 2-3 times a week had a 4.1% higher wellbeing score and 2.4% lower stress levels compared to people who don’t garden at all. However, gardening fewer than 3 times a month has less of a positive impact"

The community at the garden is thriving (thank you Laura Foster for describing it that way) and so is the garden itself. We are gradually opening for visitors for their exercise and volunteers. We are alsoMore reaching out for local people to explore a directors role (not as scary as it sounds) and to form a community steering group (will come up with a better name! But is essentially with the aim to reach the wider community and put on events and activities that the community want and need). Please get in touch if you would like to get involved.

At the Olive Branch Community Garden today from 10 until 2 (maybe later) so please come and grab some bread for yourself and a neighbour or two... there's a lot today.
We will also be pottering in the garden sorting the poly tunnels and excitingly getting the pathways around the grow space started!!

I had a good day yesterday. It began when the very first door I knocked on was answered by a self-confessed lifetime Conservative voter pledging to vote for me and just got more interesting from there.

I didMore share with them that theirs was my first door of the day, to which they replied, "well then you've made a very good start"

Other former Conservative voters were also very unhappy about a botched litter pick in their area that really upset many residents.

Various issues were raised on the doorstep, from the predictable lack of bins, state of roads, etc and I was pleasantly surprised that the potential loss of the embankment green space to a football stadium build came up more than once… More

Good morning! What a beautiful day it was yesterday! It was amazing to see the garden thriving with people coming to collect grow packs, food and create memories! The Olive Branch team achieved so much - weMore started with the creation of the path edging for the grow circle/food forest (Laura Foster and Rob you guys are an inspiration and so motivational, thank you) and the trailer and van was moved (thank you James Whatley and Rebecca Jackson for coming to the rescue! Thank you to everyone for the offers of help). Clare Middleton your dedication and enthusiasm for the garden continues to shine through everything that is achieved, thank you 🙏
In total there were 30 people who contributed to the progress and/or enjoyed the garden.
Get in touch if you would like to register to volunteer - Thursdays and Sundays are currently volunteer days.
