About
Our official website can be found at: blacknonbelieve rs.org.
Black Nonbelievers is a 501 c3 non profit secular fellowship dedicated to providing an informative, caring, festive and friendly environment. We… More strive to connect with other Blacks (and allies) who are living free of religion and irrational beliefs who might otherwise be shunned by family and friends. Instead of accepting dogma, we seek to determine truth and morality through reason and evidence.
Mission Statement
The mission of Black Nonbelievers is to…
• Provide secular fellowship.
• Nurture and support nonbelievers in coming out.
• Promote atheist pride.
• Organize nonbelievers for charitable causes.
BN welcomes all regardless of sex, sexuality, gender identity, age or national origin and race. We do however, screen potential members carefully for this discussion forum.
BN members meet to discuss topics relevant to secular living as well as to socialize. As a community we celebrate birthdays, holidays and other occasions. We offer workshops and other gatherings to educate the public on the views of nonbelievers. We also facilitate a Recovering from Religion (RfR) group to assist those in need of support while questioning their faith or dealing with the challenges of leaving religion. See our website (www.blacknonbel ievers.org) for meeting information and other resources.
WHAT THIS GROUP IS NOT
■Primarily an online forum. We hold actual meetings offline.
■A debate society. We're not here to argue, or engage in prolonged disagreements. Sensible discussion is welcome.
■A religion bashing group. There will be many times where we will make fun of and laugh at religious postings and doctrines, however our primary focus is to build a support system and encourage positive interaction with believers and nonbelievers alike.
■A Black separatist or nationalist group.
■A place to be disrespectful, mean, annoying or harassing to others in the group. Antisocial behavior - especially "name calling" and personal attacks are not welcome here. Please report such activity to the admins, and we will address accordingly. Violators will be removed at our discretion.
** The following subjects are prohibited as they have been proven too volatile for sensible discussion:
*Atheist vs. Agnostic (or any other label pertaining to freethought in general)
* Spanking or physical punishment of any kind.
* Any postings that are deemed loaded or inflammatory - including those involving politics.
* Any post that has reached 100+ comments without sensible discussion shall be considered volatile, and an admin will call for it's end. Any member who continues to comment afterwards will have it removed; if persistent, shall be removed from the forum.
Please proceed with caution when posting AND commenting on threads, and always refer to the section regarding what we are NOT when it comes to conduct. Thank you.
